Video Producer, Project Coordinator
I’m a visual journalist from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I received a Master’s in News and Documentary Film Production from the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara where I taught alcohol and drug prevention education. I’m a Muslim Women in the Media Fellow, Journalism in the Era of Disinformation Fellow, and recently produced my first documentary High Hopes, which explores racial equity in the modern cannabis industry. When I’m not behind the camera, you can catch me volunteering with gun violence prevention groups, dancing to electronic music, or kickin’ it on the soccer field.
How I Level Forward: I try to live by the mantra “be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” I believe these battles are often invisible or systemic, which is why my work is rooted in justice, peace, and reclaiming power for marginalized communities.
