Rebel Hearts
DIRECTED BY Pedros Kos
Rebel Hearts is a feature-length documentary film that tells the story of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, a group of pioneering nuns in 1960s Los Angeles, who bravely stood up to the patriarchy of the Catholic Church fighting for equality, their convictions, and their livelihoods against an all-powerful Cardinal. From marching in Selma in 1965 to the Women’s March in 2018, these women—including Anita Caspary, Helen Kelley, Pat Reif and iconic pop artist Corita Kent—have reshaped our society with their bold acts of defiance, and continue to make waves today.
"Before this film, I had never heard of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and now I can’t stop thinking about them.”
