Humza Syed is a Producer and Writer based in Brooklyn. With an education in biomedical engineering, a professional background in corporate consulting, and a career in film finance, Humza has always worked at the convergence of industries and ideas—a space where, he believes, the most exciting innovation happens. At Level Forward, he has learned many things, but one stands above the rest: stories shape our culture, our ideas, and our perspective; we have an obligation to tell them in ways that recognize and respond to that.

He has produced and co-produced numerous films that have screened and won awards at festivals including Sundance, Tribeca, Chicago International, Berlinale, and TIFF. He specializes in production finance, budget management, financial incentives, entertainment strategy, and tax credits. Beyond his production work, Humza has supported companies and projects exploring international co-productions, non-traditional film financing, and specialty and impact distribution.Prior to joining Level Forward, Humza served as Senior Manager of Finance & Business Strategy at Full Spectrum Features, an arts nonprofit and film production company. This followed several years as a consultant with Deloitte, where he worked within the Life Sciences Healthcare Division, building financial models, dashboards, and deliverables for clients across the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.

How I Level Forward: Constantly learning and developing my ability to be a catalyst for others. I’m a believer in the principles of creative enablement—using the skills I continue to develop, my knowledge of creative enterprise, and my understanding of the landscapes and industry intersections at large to uplift the stories of those around me and to ensure the narratives we tell reflect the experiences of all of us, not just those who have the privilege of telling them.
